These Terms are the agreement between you and Cardinal Labs for using our website and apps. We've tried to keep them readable. The short version: be a good neighbor in the community, post real information, and understand that the outdoors comes with real risk that no app can remove.

1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Cardinal Labs LLC, an Oklahoma limited liability company ("Cardinal Labs," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using any of our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
2. The Services
"Services" means our website at cardinal-labs.studio and our community apps, including DirtPulse (off-road and overland), CampBound (RV and campgrounds), and Anchor (boating and water), together with any updates, features, and content we make available.
The Services are provided as Progressive Web Apps that run in your browser. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Services only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Services, you represent that you meet these requirements.
4. Your account
To use most features, you'll need to create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when you sign up.
- Keep your password (or sign-in credentials) confidential.
- Take responsibility for everything that happens under your account.
- Notify us promptly at support@cardinal-labs.studio if you believe your account has been compromised.
One account per person. Don't impersonate someone else, create accounts using bots, or transfer your account to anyone without our consent.
5. Acceptable use
The Services exist to help real outdoor communities share real information. To keep that working, you agree not to:
- Post content that is illegal, fraudulent, defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, or that targets a person or group based on a protected characteristic.
- Post sexually explicit content or content that exploits or endangers minors.
- Post deliberately false information about trail conditions, water hazards, campground access, recovery points, or anything else where bad information could put another user at risk.
- Post spam, undisclosed advertising, sponsored content disguised as community reviews, or affiliate-link bait.
- Infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Services through any automated means without our prior written permission.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Services, except as expressly permitted by law.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems, or breach any security or authentication measures.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services, our infrastructure, or any other user's use of the Services.
- Use the Services to violate any applicable law or regulation, including land-use, trespass, navigation, fishing, hunting, environmental, or boating regulations.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules. We don't pre-screen everything, but we will act on reports.
6. Your content
You own what you post
You retain all ownership rights you have in any text, photos, reviews, trail reports, comments, or other content you submit to the Services ("User Content"). We don't claim ownership of your User Content.
License you grant to us
To operate the Services, we need a license to display your User Content. You grant Cardinal Labs a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for example, to resize a photo or generate a thumbnail), publicly display, publicly perform, and distribute your User Content solely for the purpose of operating, providing, and improving the Services. This license ends when you delete the User Content or your account, except for: (a) reasonable retention in encrypted backups for a limited time, and (b) anonymized or aggregated data that no longer identifies you.
You're responsible for your content
You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to submit your User Content and to grant the license above, and that your User Content does not violate these Terms or any law.
Feedback
If you send us suggestions, feature requests, or other feedback, you agree we may use it without obligation or compensation to you.
7. Community information is not professional advice
Trail reports, campground reviews, launch conditions, weather observations, recovery-point notes, navigation hazards, and similar content posted by other users are community-submitted information. We do not verify them. Conditions change. People make mistakes. Information that was accurate yesterday may be wrong today.
You should not rely on User Content as a substitute for current, official, or professional sources — including official land-management agencies, marine charts, weather services, navigation aids, search-and-rescue resources, or qualified guides. Always use your own judgment, carry appropriate equipment, and check authoritative sources before heading out.
8. Outdoor activities and assumption of risk
You acknowledge and agree that off-road driving, overlanding, RV travel, camping, boating, fishing, and other outdoor activities involve inherent and significant risks, including risk of property damage, serious bodily injury, and death.
Risks include but are not limited to: changing weather, water and trail hazards, mechanical failure, vehicle and vessel rollover, capsizing, drowning, wildlife encounters, getting lost, lack of cell signal, distance from emergency services, and the actions of others.
You are solely responsible for evaluating conditions, your own skills and equipment, and the suitability of any route, campsite, launch, or destination. You assume all risk associated with your activities. The Services are a tool to help you find and share information — they are not a safety system.
9. Third-party services and links
The Services may link to or integrate with third-party services (for example, sign-in providers, map tiles, or external sites). We don't control those services and we aren't responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that service's terms.
10. Our intellectual property
The Services, including the Cardinal Labs name and logo, the DirtPulse, CampBound, and Anchor names and logos, the underlying software, designs, text, and graphics (other than User Content), are owned by Cardinal Labs or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Services for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.
11. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on the Services infringes your copyright, send a notice to dmca@cardinal-labs.studio that includes:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- Identification of the material on the Services that you claim is infringing, with enough information for us to locate it (such as a URL).
- Your contact information (name, address, phone, email).
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We will respond to valid notices in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Our DMCA Designated Agent is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office. You can verify the registration in the Designated Agent Directory.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time and delete your account from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, if doing so is necessary to protect the Services or other users, or if we are required to do so by law. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, your license to us in retained content, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and dispute provisions — will survive.
13. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES AND ALL CONTENT (INCLUDING USER CONTENT) ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CARDINAL LABS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING OUT OF COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT ANY CONTENT, INCLUDING USER-SUBMITTED TRAIL, CAMPGROUND, OR WATER INFORMATION, IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CARDINAL LABS AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICES, OR ANY CONTENT MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SERVICES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. To the extent the law of your jurisdiction would not permit one of these limitations, that limitation does not apply to you, and the remaining provisions remain in effect.
15. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Cardinal Labs and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your access to or use of the Services; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property or privacy right.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services that is not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, and you and Cardinal Labs each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and Cardinal Labs each waive any right to a jury trial.
Before filing a claim, you agree to first contact us at legal@cardinal-labs.studio and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 60 days.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example, an in-app message or an email to your account address). Changes take effect when posted unless we say otherwise. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you don't agree, stop using the Services and delete your account.
18. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Cardinal Labs about the Services and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and Cardinal Labs.
